When travelling to a foreign country, one of the things to take care of besides tickets, accommodation and travel documents are the airport transfers. Luckily, we live in the 21st century and most of these things can be organised within minutes and in the comfort of your home using your mobile device. Especially when there are user-friendly apps that allow you to book your transfer in less than a minute.
Main considerations when choosing the airport transfer
The main concerns when dealing with the Cyprus airport transfers are the price, language barrier and trust that you are using a company or person who is able to provide such services. This means that they have professional license and insurance. In most of the airports, including the two air hubs in the Republic of Cyprus – Larnaca International Airport (LCA) and Paphos International Airport (PFO) there are various ways of getting to/ from the airport including public and private buses, taxi transfer and car rental companies.
When planning your trip to Cyprus, another thing to consider is which airport to fly to as you will have different transportation options and different costs depending on where you will land. If you are planning to stay in Larnaca, Nicosia, Limassol or southeast of the island (Dekhelia, Agia Napa, Protaras, Famagusta), consider flying to Larnaca airport as it will be more convenient and cost-effective to get to these areas. Paphos airport is best if you are planning to stay in the southwest of the island – Akrotiri, Paphos, Coral Bay, Polis, Latsi).
Note also, that as of March 1, 2021 the Road Transport Department introduced fixed taxi tariffs from Larnaca and Paphos airports to the main cities and destinations on the island. The information table (in English and Greek) will give you a good understanding of the cost of your planned transfer.
Convenient and safe airport and intercity transfer – Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos (only to Paphos airport)
If you prefer flexibility, but are not used to driving on the right side or in general do not need a rental car for your holiday, then getting a taxi is your best bet. Thanks to technology, there is no need to call or email taxi offices and worry about the language or other misunderstandings. With a taxi app like CABCY you have a taxi at your fingertips at all times.
The main safety concerns regarding taxis are:
- How to avoid being overcharged for your trip,
- How to ensure the driver is not taking you on a scenic tour (unless you asked for it), and
- How to be sure that the drivers follow the latest COVID regulations?
With CABCY taxi app, which you can get both for your Android and iOS device, all the above concerns are taken care of. The fees are set according to the official state tariffs (in the Republic of Cyprus the taxi prices are set by the Department of Road Transport), and you will see the estimated price of your trip before confirming your booking. Note, that in order to see this estimation you need to indicate your drop off destination.
We recommend to book your taxi in advance by using a handy preorder option available in the CABCY app. When your order is confirmed, you will see the driver details (his/her name, type of car and license plate number) and the map that will show you how the driver is coming to pick you up. More importantly, when you are in the taxi on the way to your destination, you will see your route on the map. As for the measures related to Coronavirus, all taxi drivers are informed and follow the currently enforced rules.
Prebook your airport transfer to/from Larnaca and to Paphos airports
CABCY taxi app also allows you to prebook your airport transfer for the date and time convenient for you. Even if you are not in Cyprus at the moment, you can download the app and prebook your ride. This way you will have the peace of mind that your transportation is taken care of and can focus on planning your trip.
If you are traveling in a bigger group or have a lot of luggage, you can also choose a minivan instead of ordering two 4-seater taxis.
UPDATE on June 16, 2022: Currently, we do not operate in the Paphos area. You can order a taxi to Paphos airport from Nicosia, Limassol or Larnaca, but you cannot order a ride from Paphos airport. We hope, this will change and we will keep you updated.
Enjoy your stay in Cyprus and safe rides with CABCY!
